ECMS operates globally in 15 countries with approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.

 

The Global Security Manager provides strategic leadership, expert guidance, and practical solutions to protect people and high-value assets across approximately 30 sites globally, including locations in the US, Brazil, South Africa, Germany, Poland, China, Thailand, Sweden, France, Japan, South Korea and the UK. This role focuses on physical security and supply chain security logistics and does not include cyber or information security responsibilities. 

 

Responsibilities:

Global Security Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and implement a global physical security strategy aligned with corporate objectives and risk profiles.
  • Establish global security policies, requirements, and performance metrics applicable across all sites and Supply Chain Logistics.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership on emerging security risks, geopolitical influences, and required mitigations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a 3-year Security Audit Plan.

Site Security Risk Assessments & Advisory

  • Conduct or commission periodic physical security risk assessments for all global locations.
  • Advise site leadership teams on appropriate, practical, and cost-effective security controls based on local threats.
  • Support facility design reviews to ensure security considerations are integrated into new builds, expansions, and decommissioning projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of security measures at each location.

Protection of People (approximately 5000 employees plus contractors)

  • Oversee development and continuous improvement of workplace violence prevention, intrusion prevention, and emergency response/security protocols.
  • Provide expert guidance on security measures for employee safety, including travel safety for employees in higher-risk regions.
  • Identify key roles requiring special security protection measures.
  • Coordinate with Operations (Manufacturing and R & D), HR, Legal and EHS/Responsible Care on people-protection initiatives.

Protection of High-Value Assets

  • Identify finished goods, intermediates, critical equipment, and other high-value assets requiring enhanced protection.
  • Recommend safeguards such as controlled access, surveillance systems, secure storage, and loss-prevention measures.
  • Establish protocols for security incident management and asset loss investigations.

Transportation & Supply Chain Security

  • Provide guidance on secure transportation of high-value finished goods and intermediates across global supply chains.
  • Work with logistics, procurement, and commercial teams to reduce risks such as theft, hijacking, diversion, and insider threats.
  • Establish and review standards for secure carriers, route risk assessments, chain-of-custody processes, and GPS tracking/monitoring requirements.

Crisis Management & Incident Response

  • Serve as a key member of the corporate crisis management team.
  • Lead or support security-related incident investigations, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
  • Maintain global reporting and escalation processes for security incidents and near-misses.

People Leadership

  • Review current regional Security organization (currently 3 Security Managers plus one Security software contractor) to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness, e.g., geographical coverage, skills needed etc.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for Security Managers to ensure consistent implementation of global security standards.
  • Coordinate regional priorities, ensure alignment with global strategy, and support escalation of region-specific risks.

External Partnerships & Benchmarking

  • Engage with law enforcement, security consultants, industry associations, and government agencies to stay current with threats and best practices.
  • Benchmark against peer organizations to ensure the security program aligns with industry-leading standards.

Training & Awareness

  • Develop and deliver security awareness programs for employees, leaders, and site security teams.
  • Provide coaching to local security coordinators and contract security personnel.
  • Promote a culture of vigilance and shared responsibility for security across the company.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminology, Risk Management, or related field.
  • 12+ years of professional experience in corporate security (physical security) within a multinational environment.
  • Experience conducting or overseeing security risk assessments and identifying appropriate risk mitigation solutions.
  • Strong understanding of physical security technologies, guard force management, and loss-prevention practices.
  • Experience with secure logistics and transportation of high-value goods.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience supervising small teams of Security experts.
  • Experience identifying practical compliance solutions for applicable international security regulations.
  • English language skills - written and verbal proficiency.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, CSMP defined below).
  • Experience working in manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or high-value supply chain industries.
  • Familiarity with crisis management frameworks and investigations.
  • Ability to work effectively with regional leadership teams and external authorities.
  • ISO 22340 knowledge a plus.
  • ISO 28001 knowledge a plus.
  • Other language skills desirable.
