Responsibilities:
- Leading a team of 13 leaders and regulatory specialists in enabling the profitable growth strategy of the business unit and managing compliance risk, in close collaboration with customers and external partners, sales & marketing, R&D, technical service, manufacturing, and supply chain.
- Representing Product Stewardship on a Global EHS, Product Stewardship and Security Leadership Team, led by the ECMS Global EHS, Product Stewardship and Security Director.
- Developing and implementing the Product Stewardship Strategy for the global ECMS business working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Being responsible for global management of Product Safety, Material Master Data, Chemical Regulations, Dangerous Goods/Transportation Distribution Safety and Trade Control.
- Demonstrating cross-functional leadership as the primary liaison for stewardship and regulatory issues between ECMS and various government agencies and trade groups. You will regularly inform ECMS and business unit leadership teams regarding stewardship and regulatory affairs impact on business strategy execution, new product introductions, and issue management.
- Leading and facilitating the use of 3rd party outsourced resources, where necessary.
- Continuously seeking to optimize the processes and performance of the Product Stewardship team.
- Leading the product stewardship team in ensuring regulatory requirements are met within the commercial, technical, and manufacturing groups including training and awareness of laws and regulations. You will leverage your strong leadership capabilities to engage customers on regulatory issues and in representing the ECMS business unit with external parties such as industry associations and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
- Having a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or other related technical fields with 12 years of experience in the chemical industry or related business. An advanced technical degree is a plus.
- Demonstrating a solid working knowledge of global chemical product stewardship and regulatory issue management, including understanding major regulatory requirements such as TSCA, REACH, REACH-like regulations, and Dangerous Goods and Trade Control regulations.
- Being experienced in leading and managing professionals, independent planning, strategy and coordination skills.
- Being experienced in incorporating business priorities (e.g., speed and complexity reduction) into how the global Product Stewardship delivers services as well as translating business priorities into Product Stewardship Team goals.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills in a complex, virtual, global organization, with ability to react and lead in changing environments. Capable of effective communication with senior leadership.
- English language skills – written and verbal proficiency
- Ability to travel internationally
