Responsibilities:

The Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Solution Architect will establish and implement the AI framework and govern IT systems which are operated by a strategic outsourcing provider.  This individual will ensure that current AI digital capabilities address business needs and make changes to digital offerings in response to our changing environment.

ECMS is a BASF group company running independent from BASF systems.  The IT team will contribute with solutions, services and support to the application landscape consisting of greenfield Artificial Intelligence, SAP and non-ERP applications.  The IT and business teams will closely collaborate to ensure alignment with business needs across markets and countries with an ECMS presence.  In this role you will:

• Lead innovation and validate AI company-wide opportunities based on state-of-the-art Computer Vision, NLP, and modern LLM services and models.
• Assess the needs of clients to identify suitable AI applications.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to optimize AI models and solutions.
• Validate and test AI solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and industry standards.
• Provide guidance and leadership in the implementation of machine learning algorithms and AI applications.
• Document AI architecture and solutions for reference and training purposes.
• Create standards of delivery including frameworks and best practices for MLOps and AI solutions.
• Research and stay current with the latest advancements in AI technology (both models/algorithms and tools/libraries/SaaS/APIs).
• Ensure the security and compliance of AI solutions.
• Train and mentor team members on AI technologies and solution development.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and other teams to ensure successful deployment and integration of AI solutions
• Partner with strategic outsourcing providers to manage and operate certain applications and related changes
• Partner with key business stakeholders in business units to understand the business needs
• Partner with outsourcing provider on needed changes to infrastructure
• Source and negotiate needed AI-related products and services with vendors and contractors

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, mgmt. info systems (MIS) or related field or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of IT experience as Articifial IntelligenceI (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) Engineer, Data Scientist or similiar role
• Experience creating and delivering AI and Machine Learning solutions exceptionally good understanding of latest trends in AI solutions
• Experience in managing and interacting with third party service providers
• Work experience in project management and / or a PMP certification
• Experience working within an agile/SCRUM environment
• Deep knowledge of AI applications and machine learning
• AI models for Data Analytics in business process areas like Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing.
• Understanding of software architecture principles.
• Ability to assess business needs, recommend AI solutions, and align them with strategic goals.
• Understand industry trends and provide expert advice on AI adoption
• Demonstrated experience identifying support issues and improvements
• Strong product and business-oriented thinking
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A high level of self-motivation to make things happen in a new environment
• Full business proficiency in English and local language
