As the Global Customer Quality Assurance Team Leader for HD Segment, you will LEAD by……..
This position plays the key role of interacting with site operational leadership, commercial account managers, and external customer contacts, on the global level within a HD Segment, to negotiate customer specifications in alignment with BASF ECMS’s capabilities. This position also manages customer quality expectations on a constant basis.
In this role you will be directly responsible for global quality topics for Caterpillar and Safety Power in addition to leading a global team of 4 quality engineers. This role will report to the newly created VP, Global Heavy Duty Segment. The Team Leader of Global Customer Quality Assurance (GCQA) is expected to work closely with the commercial teams to develop our customer support strategies and implement appropriate resource allocations.
The Team Leader of Global Customer Quality Assurance will ensure that GCQA Engineers are appropriately applying agreed upon customer specific requirements, while aligning with internal stakeholders. In this role the leader will build deep relationships with customers. They will coach and develop other engineers in specification negotiation, customer support, and identifying quality issues and bringing acceptable resolutions to our customers. Finally, they will strive to improve overall product quality and effectiveness of the ECMS - Mobile Emissions quality systems.
In this role you will be responsible for
- Leading the global Heavy Duty GCQA engineering team. This includes coaching and development of your 4 direct reports (working across multiple locations and regions).
- Proactively identify opportunities with customers and GKAMs to determine how we can increase profitability through quality measures.
- Ensuring the organization understands and meets customer specific requirements outlined in IATF 16949 and VDA industry quality requirements.
- Help drive best practices across customer teams and GCQA engineers with respect to specification setting, and preferred standard offerings.
- Supporting the other Heavy Duty GCQAs if escalations require leadership interaction.
- Ensuring continuous customer satisfaction with monitoring and setting appropriate targets for several Key Performance Indicators, e.g. Customer Complaints, Scorecards, Part per Million reject, etc.
Your elements for success……
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, engineering, or quality management required
- 6+ years related experience in quality, research, or engineering required
- Prior experience working in a large complex matrix organization required
- Customer interaction experience and relationship building skills required
- Advanced communication, influencing, and negotiation skills required
- 3+ years of experience leading teams required
- Project management skills required
- Analytical and problem-solving skills required
- Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001, TS16949, AS9100 and Root Cause Analysis required
- Familiar with Automotive tools: FMEA, PPAP, APQP, SPC required
- Working knowledge of statistical process control through Six Sigma or similar processes required
- Self-directed with the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision required
- Solid computer skills with ability to learn new operating systems required
- Willing and able to travel overnight up to 30% of the time required
- 3 years of related experience working in the automotive or aviation industries preferred
- Prior experience working in customer quality preferred
- Prior experience working globally preferred
- TS / AS Auditor Certifications preferred
- ASQ certification in Quality, Engineering, and Auditing preferred
- Prior experience working with FMEA preferred
- Basic knowledge in catalyst coatings preferred
