As an Instrumentation Technician, you will…
The position of Instrumentation Technician is located at ECMS’ engine laboratory in Union, New Jersey. The Union Engine Lab (UEL) performs prototype catalyst sample testing on gasoline and diesel engines and provides test data to research and application teams developing next generation automotive catalysts. As Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining analytical equipment including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrating, and verifying. You will regularly communicate and collaborate with the researchers and engineers running engine testing.
Daily tasks require hands-on work with various engine exhaust analytical equipment, including but not limited to installing, calibrating, verifying, and troubleshooting FTIRs, HFIDs, Pressure Transducers, and Thermocouples. Troubleshooting and repair activities require knowledge and experience of small electronic components, as well as reading wiring diagrams and schematics. Preventative Maintenance responsibilities will include the use of small hand tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment. Lifting of equipment less than 50 pounds will be necessary.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree technical discipline or trade school, required.
- Bachelor’s Degree technical discipline or trade school, preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience repairing and troubleshooting small electronics or analytical equipment, required.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required.
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment, such as a multimeter, preferred
- Analytical equipment preparation and operation, such as FTIR and HFID analyzers, preferred.
- Calibration and Verification of Pressure Transducers and Thermocouples, preferred.

The competitive Pay Rate for this role is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factor permitted by law.
