As the Chemist I, you will LEAD by……….

We are seeking a professional like you to be responsible for the on-time, accurate and precise execution of precious metal assays. Information produced is vital for BASF to assist in precious metal manufacturing, quality control and customer service.

 

In this role you will

  • Analyze precious metal samples to provide direct analytical support to BASF ECMS businesses.
  • Be responsible for the on-time execution of analysis of precious metals in multiple material types (spent automotive, fresh automotive, and chemical catalysts for example).
  • Perform a variety of classical wet chemical methods to include fusions, acid digestions, precipitation reactions, pyrometallurgy and wet chemical separations of complex precious metal mixtures, precise and accurate gravimetric determinations, fire assay separations.
  • Maintain quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and precision of reported data.
  • Focus on the safe use of concentrated acids such as hydrochloric and nitric acids.
  • Assist in other areas if necessary

 

Your elements for success……

  • Educational degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Having experience with classical wet chemical techniques.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO and quality standards.
  • Working well as a team member.
  • Commitment to safe working practices.
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure, demanding environment.
  • Being able to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced analytical chemistry laboratory.

The competitive Pay Range for this role is $60k-$70k annually. Actual pay will be determine based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factor permitted by law.
