Critical Indirect Buyer

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work as part of a global indirect procurement team, initially working in a dedicated P.One project team to drive accelerated optimization of our sourcing and buying outcomes in the region.  Reporting to the Global Outsource and Contracts Manager you will work with external consultants, internal stakeholders and the wider Procurement organization across diverse categories to drive cost savings and enhance operational efficiency.

BASF has established a standalone subsidiary dedicated to its Mobile Emissions Catalysts, Precious Metals Trading, Recycling and related Products and Services business. The new group is referred to as BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions (ECMS) and is wholly owned by BASF. BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions operates globally in over 15 countries and comprises of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.

 

As a Critical Indirect Buyer your main responsibilities are:

  • To provide professional expertise to the ECMS businesses in area of responsibility.
  • You will provide Indirect procurement expertise to the global site buyer community (best practice tendering / negotiation etc). Delivering cost out initiatives and functional leadership / learnings for the wider indirect procurement team.
  • To work with the Global Outsource and Contracts manager to deliver cost out initiatives, process and policy improvements and strategic contracts according to the ECMS Procurement Guidelines in cooperation with the ECMS Procurement organisation and associated stakeholders.
  • Use of expert analytical skills, to explore optimisation initiatives, cost out opportunities and projects to deliver Best in Class opportunities and solutions.
  • You will conduct major Indirect contract negotiations for the entire ECMS group when appropriate, engaging with multiple global stakeholders and partners.
  • You will develop regional or global strategies based on market analysis and BU needs.
  • Supplier management (negotiations, innovation, development, meetings, sourcing, assessment).
  • You will contribute to ECMS, BU and site performance, drive EBIT and additional value contribution, and provide transparency on progress, opportunities, blocks etc. Actively engage with business partners to promote ECMS objectives, manage and challenge requirements as a partner and deliver site needs, Procurement and BU targets.
  • You will act in a way to develop and support “one team” approach throughout ECMS, BU and procurement regions.

  • You have the full ability to work and communicate in English.
  • Located in Shanghai and willing to travel internationally.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor degree required
