As a Operations Coordinator - Refinery you will LEAD by……….

  • Establishing, reinforcing, and supporting a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with all relevant EHS regulations and procedures/policies. Perform weekly housekeeping inspections.
  • When necessary, carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Developing and scheduling the weekly Maintenance priorities, collaborating with area personnel and the Production Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Managing the Work Order backlog in collaboration with the Production Maintenance Coordinator and area personnel.
  • Interacting daily with the Maintenance planners & scheduler to review maintenance plans to communicate production expectations and ensure these are communicated to the shift personnel.
  • Assisting in revising production and maintenance schedules and priorities because of equipment failure or operating problems, establish a mechanism to have “additional production activities” and “short notice outage work” readily available in case of unexpected production breakdowns and upsets.
  • Collaborating and helping plan / direct production activities and establish production priorities for daily goals in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Helping the Shift Supervisors and Engineers troubleshoot equipment and processes. Working with the Reliability department as needed to find solutions to problems.
  • Helping ensure the Shift Supervisors and Operators are running the processes in the most efficient manner.
  • Directing and coordinating, with assistance from the Shift Supervisors, activities concerned with production up-time of all department operations.
  • Training employees: plan, assign, and collaborate with the Shift Supervisor to direct work; collaborate with the appraisal of individual performance; participate in rewarding and disciplining employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Working with Shift Supervisors and Production Logistics Coordinators to ensure that needed raw materials and packaging materials are ordered in a timely manner for upcoming production needs.
  • Working closely with Area Manager and Engineers in implementing process improvements, MOC submissions, safety improvements, area planning, etc
  • Implementing operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Participating in turnover meetings to support the Supervisors as needed.
  • Filling in for Area Manager when needed during scheduled and unscheduled absences.
  • Managing contract (temp) operators including interviewing, touring, hiring and time keeping.
  • Managing the department Logistics Coordinator position.
  • Taking the lead in investigation and resolution of nonconformances.
  • Compiling, storing, and retrieving production data.
  • Assisting with Title V environmental reporting as needed.
  • Being willing to work shifts on occasions when needed to fill in for Shift Supervisors during scheduled and unscheduled absences.

Your elements for success……

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent required with at least 5 years of related experience within a Chemical Manufacturing Environment; OR Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role within a Chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent skills collaborating with all levels within the site operations and support functions.
  • Experience managing large groups of operators.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills and excellent math skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence others.
  • Must be able to lift to 40 pounds.

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $75,000-$95,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
