As a Methods Development Chemist you will LEAD by……….
- Supporting the laboratory and operations in developing, documenting, and implementing analytical methods for raw material release, in-process control, finished product release and environmental compliance.
- Applying your analytical expertise, you will support proper performance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment and proper setup to documented laboratory methods.
- Authoring new laboratory methods and serve as technical approver when method modifications are necessary.
- Using your solid judgment in dealing with others and in dealing with technical issues of quality, compliance and regulatory concern will be essential as you ensure laboratory compliance with all regulatory, BASF and Site EHS Policies and practices for quality and safety.
- Successfully engaging across the organization, you will take an active part in scale-up and plant introduction of newly developed chemical processes and participate in the transfer of analytical methods.
- Applying your experience using chemistry analysis will be valued as you utilize existing, and implement new, analytical technologies toward increasing analytical efficiencies in support of production, environmental and quality control groups.
- Demonstrating your experience providing analytical chemistry support in a chemical manufacturing environment, you will support management of change (MOC) process for laboratory activities involving changes in environmental permit, raw material vendors, chemical process, specification, analytical methods, etc.
- Training, coaching, mentoring and evaluating laboratory technicians, you will also give guidance for longer term projects and prioritization of those projects.
- Assist operations and lab with non-standard testing and troubleshooting
Your elements for success……
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline with 5 years or more experience in a manufacturing analytical lab. PHD is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in method development using XRF, XRD, surface and/or physical chemistry required
- Experience with Round Robins, Measurement system analysis (MSA) required
- Knowledge of analytical instrumentation including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, preferred
- Experience in catalyst manufacturing preferred.
- Computer proficiency and knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System and SAP
- Your robust technical skills will be critical as you maintain and troubleshoot laboratory and/or analytical equipment and processes.
- Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

The competitive Pay Range for this role is $85,000 - $110,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
