As the Design Engineer, Aerospace (Huntsville, AL or Iselin, NJ) - Hybrid you will LEAD by……

The Design Engineer function in the ECMS Aerospace Business is accountable, and primarily responsible, for those AS9145/APQP Phase 2 and Phase 3 mechanical design technical elements for new product design and development.  The function is accountable/responsible for technical elements of configuration management for the existing converter product portfolio, including management of the Engineering Change Notice process.  The function also will manage and coordinate resources external to ECMS necessary to support the design and development process.

The Design Engineer function, resident either in Iselin, NJ or in Huntsville, AL at the ECMS Aerospace Business manufacturing site, is integrated into the ECMS Aerospace Design and Development Organization centered in Iselin, NJ.  This unique position in the organization will enable strong and unifying contributions to the Aerospace Business culture.

The primary responsibilities of the Design Engineer function include but are not limited to the following.

  • Mechanical designer of converter housing, catalyst technology integration, constituent elemental parts and the assembly thereof.
  • Exercise delegated Design Organization Authority to authorize contractual document deliverables describing the product design, function, and testing
  • Coordinate third-party resources supporting design, development, and testing
  • Initiate and coordinate prototyping of product designs and in-house testing thereof
  • Configuration management of existing product portfolio, including integration of continuous improvement initiatives and obsolescence resolutions
  • Technical accountable/responsible for APQP elements, DFMEA

 

Your elements for success……..

  • A BS degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  •  7+ years professional experience is required in which product mechanical design expertise and technical support of a production environment have been demonstrated as critical and necessary skills.  Mechanical design experience on “white sheet” and/or start-up projects is preferred.
  • Aerospace experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience applying APQP principles in the design and production of mechanical parts, preferably for Aerospace applications
  • Experience with FAA and/or EASA documentation requirements and the design and development aspects of AS9100D (AS9145) Quality Management Systems strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated work experience in technical project management and execution
  • Experience with Aircraft OEM supplier requirements strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with aircraft component design strongly preferred, preferably in air handling / environmental control systems
  • Broad working knowledge of mechanical design and environmental testing including but not limited to pressure reactors, metallurgy, heat transfer, solids handling, storage tanks and vessels.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills combined with personal initiative to start a task and determined resolution to finish it.  Strong interpersonal, communication, administrative skills, combined with personal motivation and personal adaptability.  Demonstrated experience in independent work within a collaborative team. 
  • Must be comfortable in both manufacturing and business setting, including customer facing meetings for audits, assessments, and technical reviews
  • Expect travel up to 10% for business alignment meetings and to support design and development activities, including third-party testing.

Actual pay will be determine based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factor permitted by law.
