As a Critical Raw Material Buyer you will LEAD by……….
- Ensuring business continuity through uninterrupted and competitive supply of ECMS’s critical Raw Materials for the assigned portfolio/category. Raw Material category accountability in North America and global coordination of category as needed with other regional buyers in Asia and Europe.
- Developing regional/global sourcing strategies for the portfolio, working closely with the business unit and the Procurement network if needed. Develop negotiation targets and tactics. Lead regional or global negotiations for the portfolio, ensuring a competitive advantage for ECMS.
- Driving value through negotiation and collaboration with Procurement technical managers to optimize spend and cost using negotiation, advanced analytics, spend analysis, auctioning and other tools.
- Serving as the relationship manager for key suppliers, including monitoring of performance metrics, innovation capabilities, sustainability ratings, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured.
- Conducting market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry-relevant information and assess the impact on current and future ECMS operations. Provide transparency on progress, opportunities etc.
- Assessing supply risks (single sources, sole sources) and develop & implement mitigation plans for all critical raw materials.
- Supporting purchase order creation and processing as well as requisitioner issues as appropriate.
- Providing functional leadership for site buyers in the region.
- Supporting other projects as prioritized by the ECMS RM procurement team.
Your elements for success……
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Science, Supply Chain, or Business, combined with technical knowledge as some raw materials are highly engineered; advanced degree is a plus.
- 3+ years of relevant working experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations, and/or Sales and Marketing preferred.
- Exposure to industrial manufacturing, strategy development, contracts, and negotiations is preferred.
- Experience in leading cross functional teams is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to manage relationships with internal partners, as well as suppliers.
- Must be team-oriented and capable of working in a multi-task environment, with ability to make and implement decisions with limited information.
- Strong negotiations skills with the ability to lead and influence others. Demonstrated problem-solving skills with business value creation know-how.
- Ability to understand our customer needs and adapt common procedures along with taking responsibility and ownership.
- Experience of SAP R3 or S4 is beneficial.

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $90,000 - $130,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
