As Light Duty Slurry Area Manager – you will LEAD by……….

 

We are looking for a professional like you who will be responsible for the leadership, management, quality, safety, strategy, and production efficiency of the Light Duty Slurry Prep department. The team consists of both the Technical and Manufacturing teams for the 24/7 slurry prep operation.

 

In this role, you will effectively lead the Slurry Prep department in Light Duty through an operational excellence journey and tactical plans that deliver the best products to our customers and profitability to the company. In addition, you will provide strong EHS leadership to your direct team, as well as the Huntsville site overall. You will also provide peer leadership that coordinates support to keep the production lines running safely and efficiently. 

 

In this role you will

  • Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Slurry Preparation department: This includes slurry manufacturing, recycle & remainder, and overall PGM management.
  • Identifying of key positions and succession planning.
  • Be responsible for planning and forecasting of capacities and resources as well as developing budget and cost controls (incl. regular reporting to management).
  • Coordinate production activities with purchasing, planning, maintenance, and quality to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Management of area related projects.
  • Apply strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, Lean Six Sigma, and process control methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Ensuring timely delivery for both internal and external customers in accordance with the production schedule (in terms of time and quality)
  • Reviewing and analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports (e.g., to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems)
  • Analyzing NCMR and derive containment actions as well as short-term and long-term counter measures.
  • Revising production schedules and priorities in the event of equipment failure or operating problems
  • ​Reporting to upper management.
  • Coaching and developing LD Slurry Prep Team of ~100 people to reach their full potential.
  • Supporting development assignments and movement of talent across units.
  • Identify and launch optimization projects to improve overall performance
  • Executing performance and career development discussions
  • Act as a role model and enable development of competencies in others needed to implement BASF's strategy.

 

 

 

Additional Role Requirements:

  • Accountable for a 24/7 production operation, including after-hours phone support. This also includes being available to travel to the site as needed during nights and weekends.
  • Directly accountable for the department’s overall performance against the sites KPI’s.
  • Strong communicator and ability to report up and down within the organization.
  • Strong Motivator and desire to engage on the shop floor.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Accountable for precious metal usage decisions.  Optimize usage and minimize financial variances using data driven decision making.
  • Ability to manage managers and work through those people leaders to drive the actions and cultures desired.
  • Accountable for LD slurry Mass Balance and Targeting performance.
  • Accountable for LD Ready to Coats processes and performance.

 

 

 

Your elements for success……

  • Bachelor’s degree in industry related discipline plus a minimum of 8+ years of manufacturing experience required.
  • 4+ years of leadership experience required (experience leading both Exempt and Non-exempt employees preferred).
  • Experience stablishing and supporting a safety culture in which all accidents are preventable.
  • Ability to lead projects and groups toward a common goal will.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and SQL data mining.
  • Experience with data analysis, technical writing, and presentation building.
  • Strong commitment to safety culture
  • Experience in troubleshooting plant problems and optimizing plant performance.
  • Experience working with a large, diverse team of engineers, supervisors, and shop floor operators.
  • Ability to see, think and act quickly and decisively.

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $110k-$140k annually. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
