2025 Huntsville Industrial Engineering Internship – Huntsville, AL

 

Pay Range: $25 dollars per hour.

Successful candidates will be hired as hourly paid contractors and will be employed by via a third party approved vendor for the length of the Internship.

 

Where the Chemistry Happens…

The 2025 Co-Op/Internship Program at BASF ECMS’s Huntsville site in Alabama was created to provide highly motivated, mobile-minded current university students an opportunity to enhance their professional skills through a variety of diverse learning experiences. Participants will contribute to real-world assignments that add value to business, explore career options and develop technical and professional decision-making skills. Participants also have the opportunity to assess their capabilities, skills, and interests and gain valuable exposure to BASF ECMS's culture, values, and decision-makers.

 

Program Summary:

We offer students the opportunity to spend a summer working at BASF ECMS’s Huntsville site in Alabama. These practical and meaningful assignments will give you an opportunity to apply what you’ve learned in school during this 10 to 12-week program. There will be enhanced career and leadership development, and value delivery to BASF ECMS through planned assignments. You will be able to develop your expertise and the ability to network at senior levels throughout BASF ECMS and establish mentoring relationships that could span across your whole career.

  • As a highly motivated undergraduate student, you will participate in a 10 to 12-week internship based in Huntsville, Alabama.
  • Co-op students will participate in a multiple semester (three semester rotation – alternating or parallel) program based in Huntsville, Alabama.
  • Interns will be matched to assignments with the Quality and Continuous Improvement team.
  • Potential start dates are May 2025.
  • Successful candidates will be employed through a 3rd party contractor (Computech) for the length of Internship.
  • Work closely with the Operational Excellence team on continuous improvement projects in manufacturing.
  • Learn different lean and six sigma tools and leverage this learning in assigned projects.
  • Learn how to statistically analyze data during Measure, Analyze or Improve phase of a project.
  • Perform floor Gemba walks, make observations, collect data, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assess the value of current visual controls and help improve them to enhance production flow and communications between departments.
  • Participate in 5S audits and improvement events.
  • Develop process maps of specified function, identify bottlenecks and work towards future improved flow.
  • Work with other team members to implement improvements and measure success.

 

Qualifications - External

Formula for Success:

  • College Sophomores and Juniors receiving a bachelor’s in the following.
    • Industrial, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Demonstrated academic achievement (minimum GPA 3.0)
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or future sponsorship
  • Leadership potential
  • Microsoft Office
  • Active participation in extra-curricular activities and on-campus organizations
  • Outstanding work ethic
  • Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus

 

BASF ECMS recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
