Are you a dynamic finance professional eager to make a real impact at work?  We are seeking a highly skilled Site Controller to provide strategic financial oversight and manage metal control at our Hofors site in Sweden. In this pivotal role, you will act as a trusted business partner to site leadership, offering financial reporting and guidance to drive decision-making, operational excellence, and cost efficiency.

 

The role:

 

Site Controlling, Reporting & Planning:

  • Oversee monthly financial close, analysis, and forecasting, providing actionable insights to optimize site performance.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, comparing it to actuals and identifying opportunities for cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support site leadership in guiding strategic initiatives, leading projects, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Lead financial audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting policies.

 

Metal Control:

  • Manage metal control processes, ensuring transparency and accuracy in metal accounting, particularly precious metals.
  • Collaborate with key functions (Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial) to streamline processes, reduce risks, and enhance efficiency.
  • Oversee physical metal inventory counts and resolve discrepancies to maintain precise metal reconciliation.

 

Tax & Treasury Management:

  • Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and corporate tax reports, working closely with tax advisors.
  • Ensure that banking facilities, cash management, and foreign exchange exposures are managed in compliance with corporate treasury guidelines.

 

Compliance:

  • Responsible for ensuring that a robust system of internal controls exists to satisfy internal, year-end, Financial Reporting Compliance (FRC) audits and FCA regulations in a timely manner, including an update of Process Controls as and when required.
  • Responsible for ensuring that BASF guidelines are properly implemented and that requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.

 

Digitalization & Process Optimization:

  • Leverage digital tools and solutions to enhance financial reporting, automate processes, and increase overall efficiency.

 

Who we are looking for

 

  • A proactive person with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field and membership of a professional accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA).
  • Someone who is comfortable and effective working in a stand alone role with 3-5 years of experience in finance, controlling, or accounting, ideally with a mix of operational and corporate exposure.
  • A driven person who has strong knowledge of IFRS, SAP.  Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Power BI skills are a plus.
  • Someone who is an expert in financial analysis, budgeting, and internal control methodologies.
  • A great people person; they have proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with people at all levels, including management.
  • Someone who is open and willing to learn and is an entrepreneurial thinker.

The Hofors site employs 40 people and has grown successively in recent year.  Today, the plant consists of 4 electric furnaces and a gas oxidation furnace.  The majority of the processes aim to melt catalyst waste for metal recovery and production is carried out around the clock.
