We’re looking for a proactive, safety‑focused Maintenance Engineer to join our team in our waste recycling site in Cinderford, Gloucestershire, and play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient running of our site. You’ll take ownership of planned and reactive maintenance, support facilities upkeep, and contribute to capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives that keep our operation performing at its best.
What you’ll be doing
As our Maintenance Engineer, you will:
Keep equipment running reliably
Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
Carry out structured fault‑finding, interpret technical drawings, and identify root causes quickly
Ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime
Champion safe working practices
Follow safe systems of work, permits, and compliance processes
Ensure all maintenance activity protects people, equipment, and the wider environment
Support the wider site
Help maintain facilities and infrastructure across the site
Manage tools, spares, and maintenance supplies to keep the team effective
Oversee contractors, ensuring proper induction, safe working, and compliance at all times
Contribute to site improvement
Assist with capital projects, installations, commissioning, and equipment upgrades
Use continuous improvement principles to boost reliability and reduce waste
Work closely with production, maintenance, and project teams to drive performance
What you’ll bring
Essential
Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in electrical (preferred) and/or mechanical engineering
5+ years’ experience delivering planned and reactive maintenance in a manufacturing or production environment
Strong technical competence across mechanical, electrical, and/or automated systems
Ability to interpret technical drawings, diagnose faults, and problem‑solve effectively
Solid understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements
Familiarity with maintenance systems, asset care, and management of spares and tools
Desirable
Experience with Lean, Kaizen, 5S, or other continuous improvement tools
Exposure to CAPEX, equipment installation, or commissioning
Understanding of automation, PLC‑controlled equipment, or modern facility systems
Knowledge of utilities, HVAC, compressed air, or building services
Experience coordinating or supervising contractors
Additional certifications (IOSH, PAT, MEWP, FLT, 18th Edition IET, etc.)

What you’ll be part of
You’ll report directly to the Site Maintenance Engineer and work collaboratively with production teams, specialist contractors and suppliers. Your work directly supports operational continuity, safety, and the performance of our manufacturing site.
This is a critical role where your expertise will help safeguard uptime, support production targets, and keep our site safe, compliant, and running at its best.
What you can expect:
Salary up to £40k, depending on experience. Annual bonus, overtime and call-out. Monday to Friday - Days.
