Basic Purpose:

Catalyst Testing (protocol development, reactor maintenance and data analysis) – Helping meet the catalyst research and development targets of BCIL RD&A.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory reactor operations and maintenance with highest levels of safety and quality practices.
  • Collaborate with other researchers to develop test protocols as needed.
  • Carry out data analysis and reporting on projects as required.
  • Hold responsibility for planning and execution of various lab projects.
  • Contribute to improvements in reactor design and operations.

Job requirements

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering + at least 3 years operating a catalytic reactor required.
  • Hands-on experience conducting experiments on laboratory reactors required.
  • Demonstrated ability for carrying out analysis of large datasets using scripting tools such as Python, Visual Basic, etc.
  • Working experience in catalysis required, preferably with automotive catalysts.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Works well independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of and focus on safety in the laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced technical environment 

Preferred:

  • Experience with maintaining instruments such as FTIR, mass spectrometer, HFID.
  • Experience building and modifying catalytic reactors.
  • PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related fields.
