Objectives:

Works independently on the technical delivery of customer projects which create customer value to BASF Environmental Catalysts & Metal Solutions by generating optimized solutions. Should be able to work independently on specific engineering tasks within required time frame in consultation with the reporting manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate with customers to identify potential new business opportunities, opportunities for improvement of products, and other instances which may require a change or redesign of products.

• Identify appropriate catalysts to meet customer specifications in co-ordination with in-house & global R&D and Application Engineering teams.

• Provide customers with system proposals and recommended specifications.

• Consult with sales, marketing, manufacturing and quality teams prior to making proposals to customers to ensure proposed products are strategically aligned with overall targets.

• Provide technical support in the form of catalyst specifications to the sales and marketing teams to enable them to complete their functional activities.

• Receive and analyze with customers the emission data for their vehicle platforms and the targeted emissions.

 • Co-ordinate with necessary product development labs to get the samples prepared and shipped to customers.

• Co-ordinate with our R&D, product development and test labs for testing and ageing of our catalysts where required

• Review with customers on the emission results of the samples provided, co-ordinate with internal team and suggest any changes or improvements in the catalysts, if required.

 • Identify 3rd party test agencies, provide necessary resources, and liaise for testing of our catalysts on appropriate vehicles whenever required.

• Provide support to the customer on any quality concerns in co-ordination with our Quality team. 

 

Personal Skill and Competency

Essential 

• Good Knowledge of Automotive Catalysis, Emission Legislations, Exhaust Systems, IC Engines and Testing Requirements

• Capability in a customer facing role. Interpersonal skills and team player skills need to be applied to support customer. 

• Demonstrated capability in Project Management skills and Product Development Processes for business-2-business product introduction.

• Good Communication and Presentation Skills (Both Verbal & Written)

• High Analytical Abilities (analyze generated data and convert this to information; solve short term problems for customer)

• Interpretation and presentation of technical data to audiences of varying technical background.

Person Specification Qualification and Experience:

• B. Tech, M. Tech Chemical/Automotive/Mechanical Engineering or MSc Chemistry

• 4~5 years of experience in Emissions management / catalyst design in any Automotive OEM / Emission system supplier / Automotive Consulting Organisations/ Customer Interfacing Role of Minimum 2+ years in Automotive Industry
